The check you received is from Forward It On Foundation, a not-for-profit, public benefit Corporation. The amount on the check reflects the total amount donated to your organization from all Forward It On members through both Workplace Giving programs and our individual giving platform. Forward It On powers Workplace Giving programs for companies and an individual giving platform. You have received a check because users of our software (e.g. employees from one or more of our employer clients or individual donors) had searched and donated to your organization. To access detailed reports on the people who have donated to your organization through Forward It On, Register Your Nonprofit.
No. Forward It On takes care of issuing tax receipts to the donors. We leverage our technology platform to automatically issue receipts in a cost effective manner.
We mail checks on a monthly basis. In the near future, we will add Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Once this option becomes available, we will let you know the steps involved to setup EFT. Until then, we will continue to mail checks.
Distributions to nonprofits are aggregated on a monthly basis and sent to the nonprofit organization on the 15th of the month following the month in which the donation was received. For instance, if a donor made a donation on March 19th - the donations will be rolled up to each organization and distributed to the nonprofit on April 15th.
Forward It On is free for nonprofits. There is no cost to access and update your organization’s profile. The platform is free to use for donors and our employer clients as well. The free model lowers the barrier for adoption and motivates donors and employers to use our platform.
We operate under a pay-for-performance model and make money when donors and employees process donations. We believe in rewarding nonprofits that are committed to providing transparency. So, our donation processing fees are setup accordingly. We offer a discounted processing fee to nonprofits that submit monthly updates to donors through our platform. The monthly updates serve the purpose to provide feedback to how donations are being used and the impact created. The discounted rate is 5% compared to the standard rate of 7% when updates are not provided. All credit card processing and bank fees are included.
Forward It On is a limited liability company incorporated in the State of Tennessee. All donations made through Forward It On are received and receipted through our donation processing partner, Make My Donation. a 501(c)(3) organization.
To continue to fulfill our mission of creating a truly delightful and rewarding giving experience for employees and individual donors, Forward It On covers its overhead costs by partnering with companies to provide workplace giving programs as well as collecting a fundraising fee from donations to cover the cost of processing payments.
Registering your free account with Forward It On is optional, however, completing the recommended onboarding steps can have a powerful impact on your organization through increased donor engagement, access to reporting, profile customization tools, and the ability to share specific needs with donors.

Nonprofits are featured throughout the donor’s experience in Forward It On’s platform. Featured nonprofits are displayed on the donor’s dashboard and are placed at the top of search result pages. We use an algorithm to determine which nonprofits are featured. The key components to our algorithm and criteria to be featured are:
Your Forward It On account offers donation reports, account user options and the ability to create and publish original content to help you engage potential donors. Search categories and social media linking are also available to keep donors connected and to boost your organizations mission and presence.
Donor’s value consistent updates to how their favorite nonprofits are furthering their mission and making an impact. This is best illustrated to the fact we see donor retention rates 2x higher when nonprofits provide updates through Forward It On when compared to nonprofits that don’t provide updates. Therefore, we reward those nonprofits with discounted processing fees when they submit monthly updates. We want to encourage you to take a few minutes each month to submit an update.
This is an opportunity to share your organizations progress with your supporters. Don’t worry about grammar, spelling and getting the right message nailed down. Our concierge marketing service will perfect the update for you. Just submit picture(s) or a video and provide an update in the text box, and leave the rest to us
A concierge marketing service as part of our program. Simply submit your updates by the 15th of the month, and we will customize a marketing campaign on your behalf. We provide a polished marketing campaign that is branded with your nonprofit’s logo and color scheme. If we have questions regarding the update you submitted, one of our marketing specialists will contact you before we finalize the campaign.
The following are a few suggestions you might consider sharing:
15th of the month. If an update is submitted to Forward It On by 12pm midnight on the 15th, the nonprofit’s donations processed the following month will be at the discounted rate of 5%. If submitted on the 16th or later, the donations processed the following month will be at the standard rate of 7%.
Yes. We will send you a few friendly reminders before the deadline. You will receive a notification on the 5th, 10th and 14th of the month. You will not receive a reminder if you have already submitted an update for the current month.
You will receive a confirmation email that your update was submitted successfully. Our team of marketing specialists will create your monthly campaign and will let you know when we have distributed to the donor’s that recently made a donation to your organization.
After your monthly campaign has been completed, we will distribute it to the donor’s that made a donation to your organization the previous month. Therefore, your update will be relevant and up to date to the recipients. For example, if you submit a monthly update on October 13th, Forward It On will create and distribute the marketing campaign to the donor’s that made a contribution to your organization during the month of September.

Nonprofits must submit their Monthly Updates by 15th of the month 12pm midnight to qualify for the discounted rate. Nonprofits that submit updates on the 16th of the month or later will not be eligible for the discounted rate.

The Forward It On Nonprofit Portal contains over 1 million Charitable organizations. When an organization is included our database, an account is created and can oftentimes be eligible to receive donations without having a user claim and register the profile. The primary purpose of verification is to tie an authorized user to their Nonprofit. The user is directed to complete the account registration steps in order to enhance their profile and view confidential information pertaining to a disbursement.
Yes. Our clients can use the Forward It On Platform to direct donations towards any of the organizations in our database.
An organization must be recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity, in order to receive donations from Forward It On Foundation. Tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charities are listed on a database called the IRS EO Select Check (formerly IRS Publication 78), which is updated monthly.
Forward It On Foundation determines the eligibility of an organization to receive donations based on whether that organization is listed on the IRS EO Select Check database. If your organization does not meet the IRS criteria to be listed on the database, then Forward It On Foundation can not distribute donations to your organization. There are many reasons why your organization may not meet the IRS criteria for appearing on the IRS EO Select Check. Please refer to the Scope of IRS EO Select Check for more details.

Your Nonprofit Profile is how people using Forward It On find and donate to your organization. To update your organization’s Nonprofit Profile, you need to find and register your nonprofit. Locate your organization by searching for your nonprofit or your Registered Nonprofit number (e.g. EIN). Then click ‘Claim Listing’ and follow the steps provided. After Forward It On has verified your identity your Nonprofit Profile information will be updated.
This means that someone else in your organization has already claimed your nonprofit. If you cannot locate the person who registered your nonprofit please click here to contact Forward It On support.
You must first Register Your Nonprofit on this website and verify your identity. Once we've confirmed your organization you can find detailed donation reports.
